E-mail Blasts

I receive at least 20-30 e-blasts per day from my favorite retailers. Many are caught by my junk mail filter, but some actually get through to my regular inbox. I have to admit, they catch my attention. The messages that actually make it to my regular inbox are from online stores that I love to shop. How did I get on the e-mail address lists of Restoration Hardware, JCrew, Gap, Banana Republic, Pottery Barn, Nordstrom etc.? The answer is because they asked me when placing my order. Most online retailers offer the customer the option receive an order confirmation and/or the option to track your shipment. In both cases, my e-mail address is required. So now I get all the e-mail blasts with the latest sale, the “exclusive” offer to friends and family only and the “trunk show” events.
